How President Jonathan Has Been Consistently Lying To Nigerians – Fashola

Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State yesterday
accused President Goodluck Jonathan of consistently lying,
saying the lies were negatively affecting the lives of
ordinary Nigerians.
Fashola also alleged that the Jonathan administration had
looted Nigeria more than any other government before it,
declaring; “It is time for them to go and they must go”.
The Lagos governor made this known at the All
Progressives Congress (APC) campaign rallies in Ejigbo and
Ladipo auto spare parts market in Mushin.
According to Fashola, President Jonathan lied to Nigerians
about issues that affect lives, including electricity, security
and the economy, adding that the president had also taken
steps to muzzle truth.
He recalled that Jonathan in 2011 promised Lagosians that
he would make electricity available to them, “but without
fulfilling the promise, the president later lied in a programme
on Cable News Network (CNN) that the people of Lagos
were enjoying constant electricity”.
Fashola also recalled that shortly after the news of the
kidnap of the Chibok school girls by Boko Haram broke out,
the military claimed that they had rescued the girls but when
Nigerians demanded to see the girls, the military said the
girls were not kidnapped.
“The most distressing aspect of the issue was when
President Jonathan was advised to visit the parents of the
girls and console them soon after the kidnap, he refused
and instead decided to invite the aggrieved parents to Abuja,
an action that is un-African”, he said.
The governor added: “This same government of Jonathan
lied to us that they had signed a peace accord with the Boko
Haram and since then, they claimed more than five times
that they had killed Shekau, the Boko Haram leader, yet
Shekau is still alive”.
On the Economy, Fashola recalled the issue of the alleged
missing $20 billion, pointing out that when the former CBN
Governor now Emir of Kano, Alhaji Sanusi Lamido Sanusi,
blew the whistle, he was sacked by the president.
“They sacked the one who told the truth and retained the
people that are telling them lies”, he noted.
Addressing the crowd earlier, the APC Governorship
Candidate for Lagos State, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, urged
the people to be steadfast and more determined in their
campaigns and rallies for Change at the centre, adding that,
“it is only the elections that have been shifted but the
people’s destiny cannot be shifted”.
