The Lagos State Sports Commission, in partnership with Bestman Games
Limited, a leading games company in Africa, will on September 30, host
the 2016 edition of the Under 17 Monopoly Championship involving 1000
students from six educational districts within the State at Teslim
Balogun Stadium, Surulere.
A statement released by the Commission said the monopoly board game
was recently included as an Official Sport in the State because it
helps in decision-making and financial planning in real-life
situations, stressing that it will also help bring up a generation of
young people who make smart, sound decisions that will enhance the
development of the State.
It noted that the Commission had engaged participants in a pre-event
training programme tagged “Train the Trainer” initiative to tutor the
participants drawn from the six education districts of the State on
how to play and teach Monopoly Game.
According to the statement, the championship is expected to witness an
estimated one thousand students playing Monopoly simultaneously at a
single venue to vie for the title of the City of Lagos Under-17
Monopoly Champion.
